These little guys were the beginning of my ceramic tile adventure. Little garden birds with their puffy chests and lovely chirps and tweets. Little birds are so industrious while being charming and beautiful. Who doesn’t want to be charming while accomplishing great tasks?
Some are fitted with wire hangers (not shown) whereas others hang from a notch in the back. Each is about 3″ by 3″ but actually varies slightly, due to the individually hand-cut nature of the process.

I had the unique opportunity to help paint a tiny part of this wonderful 85’ Altadena wall mural created by Austin Scott, celebrating the spirit & beauty of Altadena after the horrendous Eaton Fire of Jan 2025. The wall features several historic buildings plus lovely imagery of local flora and fauna…so much whimsy & cheerfulness!

While in Detroit, we went to #pewabic !! A slice of tile-making heaven for me. Drying tile, stacks o molds, big kilns, presses and classrooms. Plus visited the #guardianbuilding : final 2 photos; so-called the “cathedral of finance”. For me, it was a cathedral of magical tile #tiletour #tilelove #inspiration

Love our team #xiemtoolsusa *For tile friends who don’t know, NCECA stands for National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts, and we just finished showing the amazing collection of tools designed by Kevin Nguyen for Xiem Tools at this education-based conference. I loved being immersed in this community of clay-minded peeps!!

Just back from St George, Utah at #clayconwest. Delightfully ensconced in clay people, talking and thinking about ceramics!! Shown are a few treasures brought home.
